Today a lama came to live at our home. Yes, what you just read was right. Now let me explain. The mission team from our church went to Peru. Before they left there is this one young man, that is just so friendly, always shaking hands and telling everyone good morning especially on Sunday mornings. The story begins the Sunday before they left. I was joking with him and told him to bring me back a lama. He wanted to know how he was going to get a big lama back here? I said, “You can always put him under your arm or in your pocket.” The first thing on the Sunday morning after they got back, he came up to me and said, “Miss Nancy, Here is your lama.” I couldn’t believe this young man had done such a thoughtful, sweet, and loving thing for me. Later as I found out more about the story, it was his entire ideal and paid for by him.

Jesus has told us over and over to love others. This is real demonstration of love. Oh, if only we all would be so loving and kind to others, especially in our every day lives.

The mission team went to Peru, a real mission field indeed. Stop and think for a moment. Is not the area that God has placed us in a real mission field also? There is so much to be done, before our Lord returns. Those from the team told of numbers of ones coming to Christ as their Savior and that is great. What are we doing to reach others for the Lord? First, we have to begin with love. I understand that some of us may have a hard time loving others and there are some people that are hard to love, but now is the time to put our faith in our Lord, ask Him for guidance and strength to do our mission work right here where we are until He calls us to another field.

If you are off to the mission field full time, short term or right where you are now there is a job to be done everywhere. Now ask ourselves what am I going to do for my Lord?

Now that I have a lama from the mission field living at my house, I need your help. He needs a name. Can you give me ideas for a special name for him?

Until next time when I have a name, Lama from Peru

Thank God that you are where you are at today. He makes no mistakes. Why am I here and how can I reach beyond my world right here?
There have been times I have wondered why am I here and not on the mission field elsewhere. But my God is so big that He knows just what He is doing all the time.
The question I ask Him is what do you want me to do and how can I reach beyond my world?

1-Pray for the missionaries
I can pray in general for the missionaries. The ones I know personally, I can pray for specific needs they have.

2-Write, e-mail, facebook
There are so many ways to contact missionaries today. Years ago it took a long time for a letter to reach them. By the time they got it and answered, you had forgotten the content of your letter.

3-Phone, cell phones
Today with modern communication  we can talk around the world.

4-Financial
You become really blessed when you give above and beyond to missionaries. You can give through your local church and you should. You also can give on your own beyond your church giving.

5-Car, house, material needs
When missionaries are home on furlough or on deputation and have needs,
do we have an extra car, home, or even a room? Like the woman did for Elisha in II Kings 4:9-10. There are a number of other material needs that would help out the missionaries.
As a rule we have way more than we need and could share.

The list could go on and on. But the question is have you reached beyond your world in missions?

Missions is not just going around the world, but right here at home, where you are everyday.

Therefore we must have a purpose for our lives. We have two choices satan or God.  First satan equals darkness, evil, and keeps us so busy we do not have time to serve God.  Authority and glory equals God.  It should not be to hard for us to choose with those two options.

We should say what can I do to promote Heaven instead of saying what can I do for myself now.

When I come to the end of my life, I want to hear God say “Well Done.” I do not want to come to the end and have Him say “this is what you could have done if you had listened and followed Me.” That will be an awful day to know how much we missed out on because we were to busy with the here and now, self,  had forgotten about the Great Commission and God’s leading in our lives.

Missions is the most important thing we can do here on earth, therefore we need to be tuned into God and His leading, so we will serve Him and only Him.

Matthew 28:19   “Go ye therefore . . .”
